How do I install ChatCollector?
Download ChatCollector from the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". The extension will be installed automatically. No account or signup required.
Which AI platforms are supported?
ChatCollector supports 15+ platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Poe, DeepSeek, Mistral, HuggingChat, Pi.ai, Character.AI, You.com, Copilot, Meta AI, and Manus.
How do I export a conversation?
Open any conversation on a supported platform. Either hover over the right edge of the screen to reveal the floating button and click it, or right-click anywhere on the page and select "Collect Chat" from the context menu.
How do I set up AI summarization?
Click the ChatCollector extension icon to open settings. Enter your Google Gemini API key in the AI Summarization section. You can get a free API key from
Google AI Studio.
How do I save to Notion?
In the settings page, scroll to the Notion Integration section. Create a Notion integration at
notion.so/my-integrations, copy the API key, and paste it in the settings. Then share your target database or page with the integration.
Is my data safe?
Yes. ChatCollector processes everything locally in your browser. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your data. API keys are stored securely in Chrome's local storage. The extension is also open source so you can verify this yourself.
The export button doesn't appear. What should I do?
Try refreshing the page. If the extension was installed after you opened the page, it needs a refresh to inject the button. If it still doesn't work, check that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions.
Can I export images and file attachments?
Currently, ChatCollector exports text content, code blocks, and formatting. Images and file attachments are not included in exports. This may be added in a future update.
Is ChatCollector free?
Yes, ChatCollector is completely free and open source under the MIT license. Optional features like AI summarization use external APIs that may have their own pricing (Gemini API has a generous free tier).
Troubleshooting
Extension not working on a page
If ChatCollector isn't working on a supported platform:
- Refresh the page after installing the extension
- Make sure you're on a supported platform URL
- Check that the extension is enabled in Chrome
- Try disabling other extensions that might conflict
Export is missing content
If exported conversations are missing messages:
- Make sure the entire conversation is loaded (scroll through it)
- Some platforms lazy-load messages - scroll to load them all
- Very long conversations may be truncated by the platform itself
Notion save fails
If saving to Notion doesn't work:
- Verify your API key is correct
- Make sure the integration has access to the database/page
- Check that the database ID or page ID is correct
- Ensure the database has a title property
