1. Introduction

ChatCollector ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how ChatCollector handles information when you use our Chrome extension.

2. Information We DO NOT Collect

ChatCollector is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

Conversation content: Your AI conversations remain entirely private and are never sent to our servers
Personal information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any identifying information
Usage analytics: We do not track how you use the extension
Browser history: We do not monitor your browsing activity
Cookies: We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies

3. How the Extension Works

ChatCollector's core functionality operates within your browser:

Content scripts run on supported AI platforms to extract conversation text
Markdown formatting happens locally in your browser
File downloads are handled by Chrome's built-in download manager
No ChatCollector servers: We do not operate any servers that receive your data

Important: If you enable optional features like AI summarization or Notion integration, your conversation data will be sent to those third-party services (Google Gemini API or Notion API). See Section 5 for details.

4. Optional Gemini API Key

If you choose to use the AI summarization feature:

You must provide your own Google Gemini API key
The API key is stored locally in Chrome's secure storage (chrome.storage.sync)
The key is only used to make API requests to Google's Gemini service
We never have access to your API key
You can delete your API key at any time from the extension settings

5. Third-Party Services

When you use optional features, your data may be sent to:

Google Gemini API: If you enable AI summarization, your conversation is sent to Google's Gemini service to generate a summary. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Notion API: If you enable Notion integration, your conversations are sent to Notion's servers to save in your workspace. This is governed by Notion's Privacy Policy. Your Notion API key is stored locally in Chrome's secure storage.

6. Permissions

ChatCollector requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab: To access the current conversation on supported platforms
storage: To store your optional API key locally
downloads: To save exported markdown files to your computer
contextMenus: To add right-click export options
Host permissions: Access to 15+ AI chat platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and more to extract conversations

These permissions are only used for the extension's core functionality and nothing else.

7. Data Security

Since we don't collect or store any data on external servers, there is no central database that could be breached. All data processing happens locally on your device.

8. Children's Privacy

ChatCollector does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is designed to work passively without collecting user data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of any changes.

12. Your Rights

Since we don't collect any personal data:

There is no data to access, export, or delete
You have complete control over your API key through the extension settings
You can uninstall the extension at any time to remove all local data
